Owned the internal application platform on AWS. Automated GitHub Actions releases through ECR to ECS Fargate with health-checked rolling updates. Typical merge-to-healthy-service time improved from about 15 to 6 minutes, by my recollection.

Developed trading, data, reporting, and operational systems with Python, concurrency, market-data integrations, and cloud infrastructure.

API delivery across existing services

Added or materially extended 50+ production endpoints, mainly across three Flask and FastAPI services, with request and response models, validation, typing, specific exception handling, and production diagnostics.

Worker scaling with measured constraints

Diagnosed memory pressure and tuned existing Celery concurrency and KEDA queue-depth rules for workers supporting about 30,000 tasks per day. Per-pod average working memory moved from 60 GB to 40 GB; the configuration remained stable for six months with occasional spikes.

Coordinated caching for a constrained data source

Added a Redis lock and five-minute cache to one high-traffic pricing endpoint after confirming freshness requirements with its users. Average daily upstream calls for that endpoint decreased 20% across three-month before-and-after windows.

Shared delivery and quality controls

Built and maintained reusable CI and delivery patterns across multiple Python applications, with repository-specific configuration and automated Ruff, mypy, pytest, coverage, and Bandit checks.

04 · About

From the first implementation to the next production issue

My work spans writing backend services, shipping them on AWS, and keeping them useful as requirements change. At ABR, that included owning the internal technology platform and its delivery practices. At LibreMax, I build and improve Python services and distributed processing workflows.

Programming with Alex is where I explain the practical side of that work through YouTube tutorials on Python, AWS, and DevOps. Teaching is another part of engineering I enjoy: working through a technical idea until someone else can use it.
